**How to configure a Cisco Aironet 340 Base Station**

Out of the box, the Cisco Aironet 340 Base Station is set up to route the wireless network to dsl. You need to switch it over to accesspoint mode, and configure it to work with your local network.

Fortunately, you can do this with just a wireless card and a PC.

The aironet boots up with the ethernet address 192.168.200.1, disconect any ethernet drops from the aironet, then fire up your PC, and configure it for IP address 192.168.200.2, and set up a default route to the aironet.

Now fire up a web browser and point it at the aironet. You'll get a nice little menu where you can change the settings. Select the accesspoint mode, then change the IP address (I used 136.145.54.8 for ours). After changing the IP address, you need to reconfigure the wireless card to route to the new address, and assign a ip address in the new network (I used my laptop's IP address).

Fun huh? I hope the power doesn't go off.
