Hotswapping Disk Drives on an Origin 2000

Unmount and delete any swap partitions on the drive, then:

boreas 17# scsiadminswap -u -b 12 -d 1
spinning down drive
spin down complete
The bus is quiescing, exiting now will cause problems - ctrl-c ignored
Please wait for bus to quiesce.
bus is quiesced
/hw/scsi_ctlr/12/target/1 ready to be unplugged

Hit enter once drive removed - 



bus now unquiesced: /hw/scsi_ctlr/12/bus
probing the bus and updating the hw graph - please be patient (2 minutes)
reconfiguring /dev (may take a while on large configurations)
scsiadminswap successful

boreas 18# scsiadminswap -p -b 12 -d 1
drive 1 is ready to be plugged into bus 12
Please wait for bus to quiesce.
bus is quiesced

Hit enter once drive is inserted - 



bus now unquiesced: /hw/scsi_ctlr/12/bus


wait for drive to spin up in 10 sec 
probing the bus and updating the hw graph - please be patient (2 minutes)
reconfiguring /dev (may take a while on large configurations)
