xawtv to record?

videolan client to record:

  vlc -vvv --color v4l:/dev/video0:norm=ntsc:channel=1:adev=/dev/dsp:audio=0

zapping and tvtime, other tv card programs (zapping records)

xawtv, requires device to be set:

  xawtv -device /dev/video0

streamer, part of xawtv package, can capture to files at fixed framerate:

  streamer -o foo000.pgm -r 1 -t 30
