Callahan's Con - Spider Robinson

Telepathic hippie barflies in Key West take on the Mob.

Part of a series. Now I have to read how they save the planet (twice) and the Universe (once).

Jake Stonebender moved his bar from Long Island to Key West to escape from a Ukranian bureaucrat. All his regular clients move too. Then Pixel, the cat that walks through walls (yes, from Heinlien's novel) moves in with them. Oh yeah, they're all telepathic too. Before the novel opens they've saved the world and the universe 3 times. The previous owner of the bar Mike Callahan, is a time traveller from the very far future.

But in Key West, they're just drinking themselves to oblivion. Then things start to get interesting. A department of education field inspector comes to check on the home schooling of Jake and Zoey's 13 year old teleporting supergenius daughter, and a mobster called Tony Donuts Jr. comes to extort the local buisnesses to rise funds for a war with the Russian Mafia.

Zany antics ensue, as Jake and all his customers work together to save the bar, and Key West from utter destruction.
